You search for 3 articles on the web about digital and/or social media, which you comment on. You can enter the articles and comments on the digital/social=now page in the assignment section of KdG XM2 students.
These articles are in Dutch, English, German or French and date between 01/09/2016 and 23/12/2016
The title of your article = title of the comment

2 Impact of digital on your life
What does Digital mean in your life?
Tell me 5 ways in which digital (mobile, and social media) have an impact on your personal life.
(Explain to me what would happen if you could NOT have access to or usage of these digital (mobile and social) media in your life.)
You describe each item briefly in text (5 lines max.) and add pictures to tell your story.
You are allowed to use a maximum of 20 (authentic – non-copyright) pictures for this assignment.
Inspiration can be found in the previous section – 10 Flatteners.
3 Web Business
Go to the previous section – web 1.0, web 2.0, web 3.0 …. a bird’s-eye on a definition
Give for each type of web (1.0, 2.0, 3.0,4.0) a business example (of an existing business).
[Each company can only be taken once!]
You share your web-businesses on the Facebook Fanpage, and validate at least 2 other businesses through a comment on the post.
Your comment argues why these companies are (or are not) web 1.0, 2.0 or 3.0 companies (use the indicators from class and presentation).
Prepare a brief presentation of each web business type
Each presentation (ppt, keynote, ….) has
– an up-to-date company profile (name, description of the core business, company size, short history, number of employees)
– an explanation on why and how this web-businesses is web 1.0, 2.0 or 3.0
For the kdg-students there is a restriction: You cannot take Amazon, Apple, Starbucks, IKEA, Toyota, Domino’s Pizza, Nokia, Google, Snapchat, WeChat, What’sApp, Facebook, Twitter.
4 Create a business model canvas (BMC) for your web 1.0 business which discribes the ass-is situation = NOW = VERSION 1
VERSION 1 – BMC1 – You describe the basic (off-line) value proposition of your web 1.0 company and the customers segments this value proposition serves.
Then you descibe the value proposition which is delivered through the website of that company.
In this first version you ONLY need to fill out these two segments of the business model canvas (Value Proposition & Customer segments)
5 Pick 2 disruptors from the disruption class.
You write down in 2 lines what this disruptor means to you! (You explain it to yourself)
Find one example from each disruptor. You explain why this is an example.
You can not take any example from the presentation or class lecture.
6 Create a business model canvas (BMC) for your elevated (digital) business (= web 2.0 or web 3.0) = DISRUPTED = VERSION 2
VERSION 2 – BMC2 – You describe the adapted value proposition for your initial web 1.0 business when you apply the 2 disruptors one the digital situation of your 1.0 business. (Your disruptors have an impact on what your business offers to its customers. It can change the initial basic -off line- proposition, or it can change the digital/online value for its customers).
After you adapted the value proposition, and maybe the customer segments, you explain the impact on revenue site. Where is the money in your value proposition (both on- and off-line). You also descripe the releationship you have with your customer.
(You don’t need to fill out the left side of the canvas with the key partners, activities, resources. You can fill it out to for a better understanding of your model and offer.)
DISCLAIMER regarding grading: I won’t grade you on the ‘what’ of your business value or concept. I’ll grade you on wether or not it fits the conditions of the type of web business (=web 2.0 or web 3.0) AND if it is an application of the 2 disruptors you’ve picked
7 Describe your social graph
Answer all of the following questions regarding your social media use and analysis.
- Which social networks are you on?
- Describe your social graph for at least 2 of the social networks you have a profile on.
(Devide your friends into groups, and detect your strong, weak and temporary ties)
- Give an example of each tie, and describe why this person is part of that type of group and tie
- Make an analysis of both network

8 Socialnomics – Research how your graph responds to your (commercial) messages
You post one personnal and one commercial (=brand related) post into one of your social networks.
Describe how your network reacts to each one of those updates.
- number of likes/comments
- who liked/commented on your post? (which group/ties?)
- Is there a difference between both posts? Describe this difference?
9 Take notes of the influential speakers and refer these to course content.
