True Internetentrepreneurs behind Netlog, knew what to do….find a new business: TWOO.Com ! A new succes?!

They had a dream….building the largest social network in the world….but they didn’t cound on Mark Zuckerberg to have the same idea, so Netlog (Belgian social network) founders had a bit of a downturn the last years when Facebook concurred the world of social networks and Netlog didn’t….BUT as good entrepreneurs they knew what to do! Find a new and better product to concur the world, and so TWOO.com was founded, and is on his way to concur the world, maybe not in social media but in dating, although they call it “social discovery).

To items caught my attention today in the newspapers. Social media is realy digging deep in to our society!

Twitter has a value wort of 2,8 Billion Euros (posted on december 16, De Tijd Belgian Newspaper)
Twitter has 200 million U.S. dollars of fresh money retrieved from venture capitalists. The company is now about 3.7 billion U.S. dollars (or 2.8 billion euros) are measured. The company is therefore in one year period $ 2,700,000,000 (two billion euros) increased in value. Plans for an IPO arenot been made yet.

The number of small web companies with one billion valuation is increasing rapidly. Look at Facebook and LinkedIn. Or Groupon according ssectorkenners a bid of 5 billion U.S. dollars from Google would have received. Google would also previously expressed interest in Twitter.

Twitter has over 350 employees. Worldwide there are 175 million users but the company has all the hard time to translate that into sales and profits. Although Twitter still has a loss in the end.

This makes the valuation of Twitter more remarkable. In the previous financing round in the autumn of 2009 the company was ‘only’ $ 1,000,000,000 (0.75 million) worth. According Twitter implies capital round today a valuation of 2.8 billion euros.
